16-piece jigsaw puzzles.
The recommended first puzzle.
Sixteen pieces in a 4×4 grid — about four minutes. This is the size we mark with a 'Start here' badge on every puzzle page, because it's where browser jigsaw puzzles stop feeling like a toy.
About 16-piece puzzles
Sixteen is the sweet spot for a first real session. The grid is large enough that the picture genuinely emerges as you place pieces — you'll feel the moment the image clicks into focus — but small enough that you'll never get lost or frustrated. Most people finish in three to five minutes, with no need for any strategy beyond 'find the corner that matches'.
If you're trying out the site for the first time, start here. Pick any image that catches your eye, run through it once at 16, and you'll have a clear sense of whether you want to scale up to 25, 36, or directly to 64 for the next session.
